Book Clubs Begin!
We will be starting book clubs in room 214! You will be receiving more information in class about how Book Clubs will work, but for now, your job is to look at the copies of the books that are displayed in class, and watch all 8 of the trailers below. After that, you will rank your choices for books, in order of preference. Number 1 means you are MOST interested in this book, number 8 means that you are LEAST interested in this book. Once the ranked ballots are submitted, Mme. Payne will make up the groups and let you know which book you’ll be reading. Remember, you may not get your first choice of books, but Mme. Payne will make sure you’re assigned a book that is the right level for you and will be interesting!
Rules for ranking books:
- If you have read this book already, DO NOT rank it. Write I’VE READ IT next to the book title.
- If you have seen the movie based on this book, DO NOT rank it. Write I’VE SEEN IT next to the book title.
- DO NOT rank the books the same way your friends do. This will not lead to a happy book club! We will be doing 3 rounds of book clubs over the rest of the year, so you will have a chance to work with your friends at least once. Book clubs are tons of fun, but only when the groups are made up correctly, so don’t worry about what your friends want. Worry about what books interest you the most.
Book choices are due by the end of the day on Thursday February 16!
#1 Because of Winn-Dixie, by Kate DiCamillo
#2 Holes, by Louis Sachar
#3 Wonder, by R.J. Palacio

#6 Boy in the Dress, by David Walliams

Can you guess what our Book Club theme is? Yes, that’s right, it’s books that have all been made into movies!
