So far we have read the first 3 chapters of Amal Unbound, by Aisha Saeed, and we are intrigued! We were supposed to have read through the first 8 chapters according to the GRA pacing guide, but with it being a short week and most kids away at an X-Country meet today, we just didn’t get to it. That’s ok! It means more for us to read next week!
To kick off our reflections about the read-aloud, we talked about the following questions:
📽 Do you think the order of your birth has a role in shaping who you are?
📽 Are there certain responsibilities that come with birth order? If so, what do you think they are?
📽 Do you think it is different in your family than in Amal’s family? Why?
We were also interested in knowing whether author Aisha Saee is from Pakistan, and why she chose to set her story there. We tweeted the author @aishacs in hopes of receiving an answer. No luck yet, but we are learning to keep an eye on our class Twitter feed.
Hello @aishacs we are reading #GRAAmal and would love to know, why you chose to set your book in Pakistan? How is Pakistan important to your life? We look forward to hearing from you. After the 1st ch. we think Amal’s life is about to change a lot… @AllenbyPS_TDSB
